Selvalegre - Who are we

The educational corporation, Selvalegre, is an iniciative of a group of interdisciplinary investigators of the region who work in different fields: biology, anthropology, psychology, health and the arts amongst others. We all feel grateful for the enriching life-experience that the Amazon has offered us. We are commited to searching for options that will favour the developement of the region and are convinced that the only way to conserve all the riches of this marvellous land is to get to know our invironment and to understand how it functions.

INSTITUTIONAL MISSION

Design and execute educative proposals in agreement with the needs of the Amazonic region, respecting the social-cultural and invironmental diversity.

LINES OF ACTION

The main line of action lies in the pre-school and basic primary levels in the “Colegio Selvalegre”.
     Promotes reflexion on the social and cultural environment of the Amazonic region and carries out projects of support for schools and educational, cultural and invironmental institutions of the region.
     Prepares didactic, contextualized material: text books, ecological calendars, theatrical plays, puppets and interactive material.
     At present, agreements are kept between different schools from rural and urban areas with whom we share the use of didactic, contextualized material and the capacitation of teachers.
